Opal Gold Award
We are delighted to announce that Aragon Primary has achieved the prestigious Opal Gold Award! OPAL was set up in 2020 to improve the quality of play in English primary schools and to ensure that every schoolchild has an amazing playtime every day with no exceptions.
Receiving the OPAL Gold Award, puts Aragon Primary in the top 2% of schools in the world for its play provision for children. The school received the award in an assembly on Friday 20th September with representatives from OPAL. As part of the OPAL Gold celebrations, the school had a Tough Mudder course on the field, designed by one of its parents and a school governor, Gemma Fromage-Crawford. Every child from Reception up took part in the course, sliding through water and bubbles, crawling through a tunnel, clambering through camouflage netting and climbing over the gym horses; it was fantastic, so much laughter and so many smiles. Many pupils recounted stories of playtime with OPAL and told the school how playtime was now 'the best'! They said they loved all the different things they could play: the mud kitchen, the digging area, the fairy garden, tyres, crates, water, bubbles, disco, small world, chalk, paint.
The school is grateful to all its parents for their donations making the award possible.
